So far I have only found 3 speakers that fit in all the stock locations to get that no officer I don't have a hugh stereo effect.
The first are the Kenwood Excelon's they sound alright. Unfortunately they were the first on the market and what I bought. The next came out a few months ago the Boston Accoustics and they sound incredible. The newest ones are the MB Quart's they just came out and sound, well like MB quarts duh. I guess the problem is the doors are so thin that anything with a decent sized magnet will either keep your windows from folling down or press right against the outside panel. you could aways go with custom made kick panels. :twocents:

JL's 5.25 fit as well. Most likely RF's fanatic p or x as well, don't know about the q's, i remember them having a big magnet. I don't know if you'll have a good speaker placement if you make kicks, may be in the way of the clutch or stick out to far in the way of the passengers feet.
The older impreza's you could fit 6.5's, friend of mine had a great system, dvd, xm the works, then it got repo'd. a shame. oh well.

Ya the new Quart's are a slimline design. Instead of a deep magnet it's wider? I don't know how well they work. I just know I was pissed when I heard the BA's against the kenwood's . They couldn't touch the Boston's for quality and clarity. I just don't see myself buying new door speakers after all that I have done.

i believe that the alpine type r's used a different magnet. different that the magnet is smaller but stronger, they still don't fit in the doors but maybe that's what mb quart did. ???? BA's make a great speaker. home and car.
I have boston pro's for sale, if you know anyone who is interested. 6.5"

i'm using excelons in mine... well i was in my last car, and i'll be transferring em to the new car. with proper installation, EQ, and power, they do a really nice job. granted, the bostons have a 'warmer' sound to them, and the excelons can be a little 'harsh' but i like it like that baby.
