Actually with a modded Xbox you may not be able to get on live they have it set up now where if you try to get on you won't. But there are alternatives i have one myself and it's free. I cant remember the name but it's legit and i to shall have halo 2 as soon as i figure out why my xbox keeps freezing.

Thats correct Jacj3, games which you have copied to the Modded Xbox can not be played online, however, ALL modchips come with an ON/OFF toggle switch so that you have the option of buying the game if you want to play on LIVE.

As far as the details for modding... its is extreamly easy, i got mine about 2 years ago, and just did my brother's about 2 months ago. The chip your gonna want to get is the new Executer 3.0. Fortunatly, all chips come with the "Pogo-Pin" adapters so that you don't have to solder anything. Which is nice(F-ed up a PS2 back in the day soldering). So, your also gonna need a larger Hard drive. If you want to make sure you have enough room for games and don't want to ever f*ck with it again, go for the 250GB.

I have a 60 GB drive with an executer 2.3B chip(its about 2 years old). I have about 20-25 Xbox titles(all free) on the hard drive, as well as EMULATORS for NES, SNES, N64, CalecoVision, and ATARI 2600. I have EVERY NES and SNES GAVE EVER MADE, about 30 N64 games, 40 CalecoVision, and a bunch of Atari 2600 games.

Cost:
Xecuter 3(soon to be released) = $60
250GB 7200RPM drive = $140(check www.pricewatch.com)

Thats all you need. If anyone is interested, i will gladly help you out. For some more info, check out www.Xbox-scene.net

WARNING: There is a crazy amount of applications that can be run on the xbox, from LINUX to Web Browsers to Media Players to DVD Game Rippers. The best part is that its ALL FREE. You will be overwhelmed with how much this kicks-ass. If any1 needs a demonstration i can bring my box to the next meet and hook it up to whoever has an LCD in their car.

A friend of mine modded his x-box, we were playing halo online, I'm sure it wasn't LIVE but other people would start a server with their computer linked to the xbox. My friend had software that would look up active games and we would join in.

The X-box's OS is all based on the Windows CE kernel. So basically anything you can run with a PDA you can run on a Modded X-box. I will find out from my brother is he has software connections from his friends at Microsoft. Hell, One of his friends uses the X-box in his car to map his ECU upgrade.

ya, the new one with have hyperthread technology and DDR. That's what will increase the spead. The hyperthread will act as two independent processors.
